The wartime picture was not taken near the Liberty Bridge (Szabadság Híd), but rather on what is now Szabad Sajtó út (Free Press Road, on the Pest side of the river) looking toward the Erzsébet Híd (the Elizabeth Bridge).

  Thanks for your response. I made a mistake mentioning the wrong bridge. You are right. I was there but long before i post the actual photos and wrongly mentioning the wrong bridge.
