Lippstadt (3)

On 1 April 1945, the lead elements of two Allied Army Groups met at Lippstadt, east of the Ruhr, and completed the encirclement of Germany’s Army Group B, comprising more than 300,000 troops. This was the last substantial German fighting force left on the western front.
