Dutch restistance fighter Hannie Schaft at the Kleverlaan in Haarlem, The Netherlands. She was arrested at 21 March 1945 and killed 17 april 1945 in the dunes of Bloemendaal. She was known as “The Girl with the red hair”.

At 8:15 a.m. on 6 August 1945, the first atomic bomb to be used in war was dropped by the United States Army Air Forces from the Enola Gay, a B-29 bomber. The force of the atomic bomb effectively obliterated the city of Hiroshima, Japan.

It is one of the few larger buildings that remained standing after the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, despite the fact that the building was 160 meters from the explosion. Staying upright is attributed to the fact that the bomb was exploded at a height of 580 meters.
